Tombstone Tuesday (August 13, 2013) -- Not A Clue . . . .

This old photograph is among many Carpenter family photographs I have been fortunate to have received.  The problem is I have no clue whatsoever as to where this cemetery is located and what family tombstones are depicted, if any.   There is no label or caption on the photograph and it was loose and not included with any other materials that might give a clue.  The photograph was among items left by my maternal grandparents, Everett Shearman Carpenter and his wife, Ruth Eaton (Cooke) Carpenter.  The Carpenters and the Cookes were all from the Rehoboth/Attleboro, Massachusetts and Cumberland/Providence, Rhode Island areas and so it is believed this cemetery is probably also in these parts of Massachusetts or Rhode Island.  If anyone recognizes this old cemetery or has ideas on how I might identify it, I would love to hear from you!

  1. John, as you know this is a very typical southern New England look, so it's hard to say but I wanted to show you some pictures of the Elder Ballou Cemetery that I took in 2012. It's in Smithfield or Cumberland, R.I. - I'm not remembering. Some of the graves are no longer readable at all. I'll send the pictures separately. I was only looking for Ballous, Arnolds, Aldriches and Jillsons so didn't notice the other names there.
