Saturday Serendipity recomends the following reads for this weekend . . .
1. If, for one reason or another, you are like me and could not attend RootsTech 2018, the blogs are awash in RootTech reviews and reports this week. To have a look at what is going on there and who is lucky enough to attend you can check out Marian Wood of Climbing My Family Tree here (and her previous two posts). BUT, if you are really hungry for details and photos you can submerge yourself for a few hours in blog reports via the comprehensive list of bloggers provided by none other than Randy Seaver of Genea-Musings blog. Dive into the extensive list and links proved by Randy here.
2. Speaking of RootsTech 2018, one of the big reveals appears to be from MyHeritage.com. They have announced a BETA version of their software that will synchronize with FamilySearch.org! If you use MyHeritage and FamilySearch, then you will want to read James Tanner's post from March 1st here and get the link to his other blog where he will be posting additional comments on the synchronization.
4. A recent post by Peter Muise of New England Folklore blog caught my eye since it is about James Otis, Jr. (1725 - 1783), the Boston lawyer known for coining the maxim, "Taxation without representation is tyranny." One of my maternal grandmother's lines to Mayflower passenger Richard Warren is through Job Otis. Job Otis was the seventh of the eight children of John Otis II and Job's brother John Otis III was the grandfather of patriot James Otis, Jr. But it is not the genealogy of James Otis, Jr. that is the subject of this post by Peter Muise, it is the eerie way in which James Otis, Jr. died.
