Eulalie Lillian Mary Jeffs (University of Toronto graduation circa 1915) |
I'm not sure they make graduation regalia like this anymore -- with the fur and all -- but it is quite different from what we usually see today.
The above photos are of my sons' great grandparents (Molly's grandparents). The top photograph is the undergraduate portrait of Eulalie Jeffs, Molly's maternal grandmother. The bottom photograph is the graduation portrait of Molly's maternal grandfather upon his graduation from medical school.

These are wonderful photos! And Eulalie is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMolly's grandparents are beautiful (her) and handsome (him). I've never seen fur like this as part of graduation attire. Did they graduate from the same place? If so, perhaps it was traditional for that university or college.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! Yes, they both graduated from the University of Toronto where they met. They both had the same last name -- Jeffs -- though no connection has ever been found between the families. I agree, they were a handsome couple indeed.
