William Wood

William Wood, pictured above, was the father of Mary Jane Wood (1841 - 1891) who married Robert Fennell on December 22, 1859 in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.  William was born in Ireland and it is believed that his daughter Mary was also.

Mary Jane Wood and her husband Robert Fennell had seven children -- four boys (William, Albert, Robert and Thomas) and three girls (Jane, Elizabeth and Susannah).  Elizabeth Ann Fennell (born in 1866) married Herbert Beverly Jeffs on September 16, 1891 in Bradford, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada.  Elizabeth and Beverly had three children (all girls): Eulalie Lillian Mary; Helen; and Kathleen Lorena.

Eulalie Jeffs married George Douglas Jeffs who she met while at college at the University of Toronto.  Although they had the same surnames, no connection or relationship between the families has ever been found.  Eulalie and Doug had two children: Doreen Elizabeth and Robert Douglas.

Doreen Elizabeth Jeffs married Daniel Joseph O'Kane, Jr. -- who she met while in graduate school at Cornell University.  Doreen and Dan had three children: Patrick Joseph; Kathleen Elizabeth; and Mary "Molly" Nora (my wife). 

William Wood is thus the 3rd great grandfather to my wife and the 4th great grandfather to our sons.  Little more is known about William Wood at the moment and he needs to be the subject of further research.

Elizabeth Ann [Fennell] Jeffs

Elizabeth Ann [Fennell] Jeffs is my wife Molly's great grandmother.  Elizabeth, the daughter of Robert Fennell and his wife, Mary Jane Wood, was born in Bradford, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada on December 12, 1866.  She married Herbert Beverly Jeffs on September 16, 1891 in Bradford.  

Together Elizabeth and her husband had three children -- all girls: the oldest, Eulalie Lillian Mary Jeffs (1893 - 1964) is Molly's maternal grandmother; Helen Elizabeth Jeffs born in 1894 was the middle daughter; and Kathleen Lorena Jeffs, the youngest, was born in 1897.  You can see a photograph of the three young Jeffs sisters here.

The baby is the maternal grandmother of my wife Molly and the great grandmother of our two sons. Eulalie was born in Bond Head, Ontario, Canada in 1893 and died in Burlington, New Jersey in 1984. Her mother, Elizabeth Ann Jeffs nee Fennell, was born at Bradford, Ontario, Canada in December 1866. Her father, Herbert Beverly Jeffs, was born in March 1864 in West Gwillimbury, Ontario, Canada.

Robert Fennell and his wife, Mary Jane Wood Fennell, are my wife's 2nd great grandparents and therefore the 3rd great grandparents of our two sons.

Robert and Mary Jane had seven children born in Canada between 1861 and 1879.  Their fourth child and second daughter was Elizabeth Ann Fennell born December 12, 1866 in Bradford, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada.  On September 16, 1891, Elizabeth married Herbert Beverly Jeffs who was born March 14, 1864 in West Gwilliambury, Canada.

Elizabeth Fennell and H.B. Jeffs had three children together -- all girls.  The eldest of the three girls, Eulalie Lillian Mary Jeffs (1893 - 1984) is my wife's maternal grandmother and the maternal great grandmother of our sons.

The Fennell sisters: Jane, Susan/Susannah and Elizabeth circa 1869.

The maternal side of my wife's family is from Canada.  Her maternal great grandmother is Elizabeth Ann (Fennell) Jeffs who was born in Bradford, Ontario, Canada on December 12, 1866. Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert Fennell and his wife, Mary Jane (Wood) Fennell.  Robert and Mary Jane had seven children -- three girls (Jane, Elizabeth and Susan/Susannah) and four boys (William, Albert, Robert and Thomas).

On September 16, 1891, at age 24, Elizabeth Ann Fennell married Herbert Beverly "H.B." Jeffs in Bradford, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada.  H.B. was 27 years old at the time of their marriage.

H.B. and Elizabeth Jeffs had three daughters.  The eldest, Eulalie Lillian Mary Jeffs, born in 1893, is my wife's maternal grandmother.  Eulalie's younger sisters were Helen Elizabeth Jeffs, born 1894, and Kathleen "Kay" Lorna Jeffs, born 1897.
