All photographs of the sword by the author. The sword is now in the personal collection of the author courtesy of the very kind gift of the sword from my aunt, Lois (Carpenter) Connell!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely piece of family history! Masons left great records for genealogy.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for these comments. It is an awesome item to have and realize he wore it during formal Mason events.
ReplyDeleteThe back story is that one of his granddaughters (my mother's sister) possessed the sword and gave it to an unrelated friend years ago, BUT she asked for it back to give to me when she understood the depth of my interest in the family genealogy and family artifacts. I was amazed and incredibly grateful that she did that -- and that the gentleman who had the sword understood. ;-)
