Mary Hasselbaum and John E. Henry, M.D., bride and groom posing with the bride's family (circa 1913) |
My paternal grandmother, Huldah Antonia Hasselbaum Tew, was one of the six children of Anton Hasselbaum and his wife, Maria Johanne Richter. Around 1913, my grandmother's older sister (the eldest of the six Hasselbaum children) married John E. Henry, M.D. in Providence, Rhode Island. All the members of the Anton and Maria Hasselbaum family were present except for their only son Oscar, who was in the Army and could not get leave to attend the wedding.
From left to right above are: Helena Hasselbaum (1901 - 1982); Olga Hasselbaum (1896 - ); the bride, Mary Hasselbaum Henry (1888 - 1914); the bride's mother, Maria Johanne Richter Hasselbaum (1859 - 1948); the groom, John E. Henry, M.D.; the bride's father, Anton Hasselbaum (1857 - 1916); and the twins, Josephine Hasselbaum (1898 - 1990), standing, and my grandmother, Huldah Hasselbaum (1898 - 1983) sitting.
