My wife's maternal grandfather (our sons' great grandfather), George Douglas Jeffs, was born in Havelock Township, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada on November 25, 1893. He was the younger of the two sons of Dr. William Henry Maines Jeffs and Minnie [Brown] Jeffs. He was known as Doug and, as an adult, went by G. Douglas Jeffs professionally.
On October 4, 1919, two years and five months after graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Medicine, Dr. G. Douglas Jeffs married Eulalie Jeffs (same surname, but no known relationship). Doug and Eulalie met while both were students at the University of Toronto. They had two children: Doreen Jeffs (Molly's mother and our sons' maternal grandmother) and Robert Jeffs.
The first photograph above is of G. Douglas Jeffs (left) with his older brother, Howard Jeffs, standing (who also became a medical doctor). It would have been taken around 1894. The next photo is of Doug around age two and so would have been taken about 1895. The third is of Doug at Lake Simcoe when he was about three years old in 1896.
